Outreach Map

Census 2010 Interactive Map

Maryland is ranked 7th in the country for minority population. Minorities are often undercounted in the census, therefore additional outreach efforts are placed on areas with high concentrations of minorities, poverty, renters, persons not speaking English well, single family households (male or female headed households with no spouse present), households with less than a high school education and high unemployment.

The US Census Bureau has identified a high correlation between areas considered Hard to Enumerate and those that have low census questionnaire Mailback Response Rates. The maps below depict areas that are considered Hard to Enumerate based on 2000 Census data. Corresponding Mail Response Rates from the 2000 Census are available also.
